The department is executive body of governmental authorities of Murmansk region, exercised functions in state policy and normative legal regulation in  sphere of fishery complex.The department activity focused on development of  fishery complex of  Murmansk region and its production capacity, forming of stable fish market outlet, increasing of fish part in population's consumption volume.

The department contributes in development of branded selling of aquatic bioresources, conduction of investment policy in fishery industry, aimed at enterprises renovation and development of new production capacity, increasing of technological level of manufacture and efficiency of capital investments.
