The main objectives of PINRO activities are the development of biological basis for rational exploitation of fish resources in the North Atlantic, seas of the North European basin and in the Western sector of the Russian Arctic, fisheries investigation in the inland and coastal areas, aquaculture; anthropogenic pollution of marine ecosystems monitoring; development and improvement of methods and technologies of fisheries investigations; international fisheries issues and scientific and technical cooperation with foreign countries.
